GUJARATI SAMAJ
Gujarati Samaj has played a central role in ensuring that our tradition and culture are not lost amidst changing times and values. The new generation is growing up in the western world, and it is our obligation to keep our rich culture and heritage alive. Our Samaj started with a membership of 60 families in 1985 and has come a long way today with a membership base of about 500 families.
Gujarat at a Glance
Gujarat – The Land of the Legends, stands bordered by Pakistan and Rajasthan in the north east, Madhya Pradesh in the east, and Maharashtra and the Union territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli in the south. The Arabian Sea borders the state both to the west and the south west.
From Roots to Wings
The State took its name from the Gujjars, who ruled the area during the 700’s and 800’s. Stone Age settlements around Sabarmati and Mahi rivers indicate the same time as that of the Indus Valley Civilization while Harappan centers are also found at Lothal, Rampur, Amri, and other places.
